"Then Abraham planted a tamarisk tree at Beersheba, and there he worshiped the Lord, the Eternal God." Genesis 21:33 NLT
Forever in Hebrew translates to 'olam (oh-lam). Referring to the infinite and everlasting expanse God has created. This word can be used to refer to the distant past or the distant future. God is referred to as 'El 'Olam, "the Eternal God" (Genesis 21:33 & Isaiah 40:28) as God is eternal, so is his mercy le - 'olam, that is, "unto the forever" (Hayford et al.).
"Give thanks to the God of Heaven. His love endures forever." Psalm 136:26 NIV
Read Psalm 136 and reflect on these questions (Tipton):
How does the fact that you cannot lose God's love affect your relationship with Him?
Are you ever guarded in what you say to Him? Why or why not?
How is God's love better than any other Love?
The phrase "His love endures forever" is repeated 26 times. I think we can admit how easily we forget how faithful God is so He reminds us after each statement. If we are children of God we cannot lose His love. If we have confessed with our mouths and believe in our hearts that Jesus died for us (Romans 10:9) "we are His forever- chosen, bought at a price, accepted, forgiven, redeemed, and a full heir to His kingdom" (Tipton).
Stay close to the Lord and ask Him to come alongside when the anxious thoughts, worry or doubt creep in. For we cannot fight our battles alone, we need a protector who will shield and protect us (Psalm 144:2 NIV).
His Love Endures Forever
Your cannot lose His love, find rest and peace in that promise, and thank Him today for His never ending love.
